How to use this resource pack:

  1. Read Chapter 1 of the novel. Discuss.
  2. Share the WAGOLL with pupils and discuss its features.
  3. Pupils plan and write their own character profile text about Lila or another character from the story (for example, Lalchand, Hamlet or Chulak).

Diary Entry

Pupils write a diary entry from the point of view of one of the book’s characters.

Newspaper Report

Pupils write a newspaper report based on the events in chapters 2 and 3 of the novel.

The model text contains a newspaper report about the white elephant escaping the city.

  4. Plan and write a persuasive letter using the vocabulary sheet.
