Resource: Example Diary: Journey by Aaron Becker

This resource pack contains a WAGOLL diary text based on Journey by Aaron Becker, a beautiful wordless picture book.

The model diary entry is written from the point of view of the young female protagonist of the book.

Alongside the Journey diary WAGOLL is a feature find worksheet, where pupils are tasked to identify the following features from the exemplar text:

The feature find worksheets come with answers to make marking a breeze!

After examining the text, pupils can write their own diary entries based on the story. Diaries can be written from the point of view of the girl (as in the WAGOLL), or from the point of view of another character in the book (e.g. the girl’s sister, a guard or the king).
