The following resources are provided:

  • Model character profile text
  • Feature find worksheets with answers
  • Writing templates, differentiated x3
  • Character trait word bank

The WAGOLL contains a character profile describing the story’s protagonist, Stanley.

How to use this resource pack:

  1. Read chapters 1 and 2 of the book.
  2. Discuss the different characters.
  3. Share the WAGOLL with pupils and discuss its features.
  4. Pupils identify the features of the character profile text, using the differentiated feature find sheet and answers.

The model text is written from Stanley’s point of view on his first day in Egypt. The diary entry pupils write could be their own version, from the same day, but from a different character’s point of view, or be from Stanley’s point of view, but from the next day (requiring pupils to predict what will happen later on in the story).

How to use this resource pack:

  1. Read the story to the end of chapter 6. Discuss.
